We just sat through a major thunderstorm here in Coeur D'Alene. I was amazed at the number of people who left their rigs unattended with awnings out when the weather forecast had this storm coming all day. I just got to my neighbors rig in time to get his awning up before it wrapped over the roof--others weren't that lucky.

As there was a lot of lightning as well, I unplugged the shore power and TV cable during the storm also.

Was I just being paranoid? Or are other campers not too smart about leaving their rigs all day with bad weather forecasted and not doing anything to prepare for it? I can't imagine that the damage that a runaway awning could do would be inexpensive.

In other words--come on people--THINK!
