I wil second that. While there make a day trip to 2-hearted river and walk the Lake Superior beach there, Stop at the Fife Lake General store if it's still around and chat with the owners. interesting folks.

There are many waterfalls in the UP, Check out a few of them. Some are right in the city (Musining) and others are on private land (Sorry can't go there) Also Painted Rocks national Lakeshore.. Well worth the trip.

I'm pretty sure I was still in U. P. of Michigan on the south shore of Lake Superior when we stayed at this Grand Marais, MI, "Woodland campground".

Woodland Park Campground, Grand Marais MI

Funny, we stopped there and DW ordered Macaroni and Cheese.
It looked and tasted just like Kraft, from the little box.

Another customer did say the pie was great.

If your looking for free, no service camping, check out Bonds Falls Flowage.

Yes, you were in the UP. Funny thing is, the campground map almost looks like the campground, some sites huge, some tiny. Also, no reservations, so if you show up with dozens of other campers, you could spend your weekend shoved into an overflow ball field. This area is ripe for a competing RV campground as this city-run mismanaged campground is the only place to camp within a huge area.
