Utah Hwy 9 thru Zion Nat'l Park?

Will we be ok driving Hwy 9 through Zion in our 40' coach? Are there any tunnels on that road?

We took the Rt through Zion with the grand kids 2 yrs ago but don't remember the Rt# but since I think there is only one. SO! There is a tunnel and what a fantastic ride. You'll have to disconnect the toad and pay a toll so they can stop the traffic for you and give you the tunnel to you alone. We travel in a 36' DP and would do that route again in a heart beat. Don't pass it up!!! RAy

Best to use a small vehicle, parking can be a real problem so a large vehicle will have to forgo some of the best stops.

There are other options to get to Zion and leaving Zion depending where you be coming from and where you be heading after Zion.

At Hwy 89 just south of Kanab, UT you'll come to Fredonia, AZ. Take 389 west toward Colorado City and Hurricane, then east on Hwy 9 into Zion. No tunnels and a very scenic, easy drive with a big rig.

Leaving Zion head west on 9 to I-15 then north or south depending where you want to go. If you want to head to the Bryce Nat'l Park area, go north on I-15 to Hwy 20. Take 20 east to Hwy 89 then south to Hwy 12 and east to Bryce.

Don't drive Hwy 14 between I-15 and 89. It's VERY steep and curvy. Take 20 instead.

Further on Hwy 12 is Capitol Reef and Arches can be gotten to from Capitol Reef via 24 to I-70 east then 191 south. Or a very scenic route is at the intersection of 24 and 95, take 95 south to 191 at Blanding, then north to Arches.
