Utah National Parks in September?

The DW and I are planning a trip to several of the national parks in Utah this September. While telling my mobile RV tech about our plans, he told me that last year the parks were closed for most of September due to budgetary restraints and that the same thing could happen again this year. Any truth to this?

I hadn't heard of any closures, but you never know. I would check with the National Park Service's website for any bulletins or other information on possible closures.

Bryce Canyon and Zion visits in September are great. We did it in 2003. The added plus is fewer people.

I wouldn't recommend going the first week of October due to the possibility of federal budget problems. There shouldn't be any problem in September. There have been some campgrounds closing in various national parks due to budget cuts, but those are the entire season mostly. September is a lovely time in southern Utah.

Sorry for the hijack but we're going there 1st of June too and what are some recommendations for places to stay. Two MHs and each will be pulling small trailers with our bikes in them so side trips on the Harleys would be a plus.

There's a possibility of closings every year. That's when the General Budget comes up and it's actual date is the first part of October. Sometimes they close; sometimes not. You never know. I certainly wouldn't put off making plans because of this. We've gone to the Nat'l parks many times in September and in October. That's a beautiful time to be there.

They were closed in Oct 2013, but it wasn't just in UT. It was because of the govenment shutdown. We had reservations in Moab and had to make other arrangements. We ended up at a couple state parks instead. We were back again in Oct 2014. No closures.

Ok thanks folks. We've made all of our reservations already, but we may alter them now since they spill over into the first week of October.
