VA Beach / Holiday Travel Park

Arrive Thursday evening @ Holiday Travel Park in Virginia Beach for the Holiday weekend. Anyone else going to be in town?

This will be our first time there. Have read good and bad reviews regarding the park and the jets. Kids are excited to decorate the site for the Halloween weekend.

Hi: We workkamped @ HTP during the summer of '11. Big park w/ paved sts. I suggest a site in the 'Eden' section .. #'s 316 to 322 .. lrg grassy backin's & somewhat private; if not, spend the extra $$ & get a 'Super Site', it's well worth it. I was the sight checker and saw every sight every day.. if you have any Q's pls ask me. There 8 spotless restrooms, 2 camp stores' & the beach is 2 mi away with free parking for guests AND yep there are the jets .. usually quiet on W/E's. If not..don't let the sound of freedom ruin your fun. This is a 10 facility..enjoy! My Best P

Thanks for the info Paul. We did reserve a super site. Weather looks great for the long weekend. Heading South tomorrow afternoon once the kids finish school.

Returned from a great weekend in Virginia Beach. The weather was great, kids had a great time participating in the Halloween festivities.

Glad that you enjoyed your trip. Pics are great. Hope I didn't oversell the CG & the jets were parked for the W/E. From the pics I looks like you may have had a corner site, maybe #816. My Best PB

The super site section of the park was very nice. The extra large concrete site make it a 10+ in our book. My wife & I would have liked to seen more of the area but with all of the Halloween activities it was difficult to pry the kids away from the park.

The jets were not too bad. Just a couple on Friday and very interesting to watch fly over top.

Try during the week for the jets. It was not real bad when it was the 14s but when it changed over to the 18s my mother and father would have to wait to be able to hear on the phone.
The park was nice.

We arrived on Saturday 10-6 after a horrible drive from Cherry Hill Park north of Washington. Took the 2 mile drive in the toad to the beach on Sunday. We were not impressed with either the location of the parking lot, the walk to the beach, or the commercialized beach itself. Then the weather turned cold and it rained. The campground was almost empty (at least where they stuck us), the campground store was closed and the other one back at the corner didn't evern carry basic groceries such as milk. I was hoping to see some F-18s flying (being a Naval Air veteran) but even that was not to be. We left on Monday. To tell you the truth, I could not wait to get out of there.

PS - Being full-timers without children or pets, maybe we have higher expectations.
