Va/Md eastern shore

We plan to spend a couple of days next week exploring the eastern shore.

I realize the "season" has gone, but the weather is so nice for, a look and see.

Any recomendations for places to see, and places to stay.

Assateague State Park below Ocean City, MD

Definitely go see the wild horses at Assateague.

We took the ferry to Tangier Island and were disappointed. The food was lousey and it seemed the locals tried to milk you for every dollar you had.

Eastern Shore Railroad Museum was good for the boys. It is in Parksley, VA.

Probably too late to chime on this but we always stay at Pine Grove Campground on Chincoteague, very peaceful, quiet and uncrowded in the off season. Has a state park feel to it. We've been there many times in the fall and during the week you have the park to yourself.
