Vegas to Yosemite

Got a question. We are planning a trip, starting in June, to go out to Grand Canyon (south rim) from there for a couple of days in Vegas and then want to visit Yosemite. The route I am looking at is up 95 from Vegas to hwy 6 then west on hwy 120 to hwy 395. On 395 to Lee Vinings where we will camp and tour Yosemite with the toad. Leaving Lee Vinings, we will travel up 395 to Reno.

Has anyone been this route? Particularly Hwy 120 across to Hwy 395 and Hwy 395 north to Reno.

Running a Georgetown 351ds with toad.

You will be a good distance from the main areas of Yosemite coming in from the northeast side. Beautiful drive, make sure the Tioga pass is open or you may have to go down to the Tehachapi pass. ( opens in June or might earlier with the drought) . You might consider Reno first from GC, then over 80 and come down 99 to Merced or Fresno which both towns are close to Yosemite entrances that are open. Easy drives, you may find some nice camp areas in yosemite. We stayed in Upper pines campground, right smack in the middle of all the water falls and valley.

Vegas to Yosemite

We have driven 120 in the MH, car , and motorcycle. It is a very pretty drive but not a fast road. There are some big dips in the road that in a car or on a MC you can get some air time. We found it fine in the MH. It is a drive to the valley floor from Lee Vining, but you will traverse the most beautiful part of Yosemite. We have stayed at Mono Vista, nice campground 9 years ago. Mono Lake visitor center is a must see, and Bodie on the way up to Reno......best take the toad only unless the road is paved now.
Travel safe!
