We plan to drive from WV to Essex Jct, VT and would like info on nice campgrounds in VT and NY (Ithaca, Lake George area). Any recommendations? Any do not miss places? Thanks.

There are plenty of campgrounds in the Lake George area. Lake George RV Park: Lake George Camping & RV Resort Is Premiere Among Adirondack Resorts is probably the best in the area and is close to vermont.

Lake George Escape is another good one: Lake George Escape Camping Resort, NY Adirondack Campground & RV Park

How long were you thinking about spending? If your coming up from WV, you could take I-79 past Pittsburgh to I-80 east, Cook Forest area is a nice stop over for a few days, from there you can head up north to NY and I-86 running along the southern border to Watkins Glen State Park area. the state park only has one loop with electric service. I'm not sure what other CG's are in that area. From there you could take I-86 to I-88 to Albany. This route you could bypass the NY turnpike. ($$$) In July we will be spending 14 nights in VT. 3 in the Stowe area, 6 at Lake Dunmore, and 4 at Half Moon State Park, just north of Essex.
