Virgin Utah to Winslow Az

Kathy and I are planing our spring '16 trip and plan to travel from Virgin Utah to Winslow Az. Question is, will this route take me through the Zion/Mt Carmel Tunnel on Highway 9?

Looks like you have a 42' coach - 40' is the max they allow, even with the paid escort
From their website (Frequently Asked Questions about the Zion-Mt. Carmel Highway and Tunnel - Zion National Park (U.S. National Park Service)) :
Q. What are the size limits for an oversized vehicle?
A. Any vehicle that is 11 feet 4 inches high or higher and 7 feet 10 inches wide or wider needs the one-way traffic control service. Any vehicle 13 feet high or higher cannot pass through the tunnel.
Length restrictions are 40 feet for a single vehicle and 50 feet for any vehicle combination.
This information is also listed on the back page of the Park Newspaper. Visitors must pay for the one-way traffic control service at the entrance stations - not at the tunnel.

You will need to use UT59, AZ389 through Colorado City then use either US89A or US89 down to Flagstaff then I-40 to Winslow. I suggest using 89 and visit Lake Powell on the way.

We've done the 59/389 route many times and it's an easy drive with a big rig. You won't be going through the tunnels.

When you get to Fredonia, AZ you have the two above-mentioned choices. Head north on 89 to Page, AZ and then south on 89 to Flagstaff and I-10 east to Winslow.

Or...from Fredonia turn south to Jacob Lake (no lake by the way) and take 89A east to 89 and south on 89 to Flagstaff. On this route you'll have a short steep descent after you leave Jacob Lake. It's very doable but just wanted to warn you. Midway down is a very large pull-off on the right where you can catch your breath and admire the awesome landscape.

We've done them all! Also, while visiting Zion be sure to drive your toad up through the tunnels.... a neat experience.

Here's the park's website with maps and all you need to know. Have a good trip.
