Virginia Beach vs Outer Banks

I know that these are like trying to compare apples & oranges, but wanted to see if anyone had any major opinions one way or the other on these two places?? The family and I will be staying at one of them in mid July and was looking for advice/suggestions?!

Hope all is well and wishing you safe travels!

The only difference is the population and the many Restaurants. Virginia Beach has both

Apples and oranges is correct! If I had to choose one over the other, it would be the OBX without even thinking about it. But that's me. It just depends on what you are looking for and what you expect.

I guess if you want peace and quiet and quality family time together then outer banks is for you,but if you want lots of things to do and see and places to eat, then it's Virginia Beach. (JMO)

Can't say anything about the banks but va beach has a lot to do....but don't think you will find a really nice campground there. They are all just average.. The kids and grandkids like the KOA there so that's the only reason we camp there.

Traffic, traffic, traffic in Virginia Beach and those military jets are very loud. So loud that sitting outside is impossible and they fly late into the evening. The noise levels will depend on what campground you stay at but if it is the KOA or Holiday Travel Park, expect noise. Lived in the area for about 18 years and have no desire to return except to visit family for a very brief visit.

Having lived in Virginia Beach for the past 12 years and new to RVing we checked out most of the Virginia Beach RV resorts and what JP said, "Lots of Jet noise" but then there are lots of military bases here and have come to love the jet noise. Tons of things to do for the kids from the beachs to entertainment - VA beach has them all. Been trying to get to the outer banks but still trying out locally. Can't go wrong on either IMHO

Outer Banks all the way. Much more to do than Va Beach. Wright bros memorial, wild horses in Duck, the Lost Colony play in Mantio, car ferry to Oakraoke island, sea shore park wild life, light houses, coast guard station museum, restaurants, beaches, etc. Several good campgrounds.
