Visual trip tracking for blog

Do any of you track your trips using an online map or app to show the route you've taken and where you stayed and are currently staying?

I wanted to do that to remember the trips and see them visually and to share with friends and family on a blog perhaps. Ideally with dates.

Thanks as always!

Ellen

Me and the wife are still using an old school map, filling in the states and a journal when we travel and camp. The journal is very thorough. We look at for reference frequently.

An app sounds cool.

Ellen-

I've created maps using the "MyMaps" feature of Google Maps. They show the routes (loaded from our GPS), icons for places we stayed (with descriptions, ratings, and links to the park Web sites), and icons with descriptions and links to pictures for some of the things we saw. It's not as full-featured as a blog, but I couldn't find a blog app that was easy to use, either.

There are two drawbacks:

1) To share the maps, the viewing person needs to have a Gmail account (so you can give them permission to see your maps).

2) Google has a habit of abandoning apps, which means that some day the maps may go "poof," never to be seen again.

If you're interested in MyMaps, send me a private message that incudes a Gmail address and I can open one map up for you to view.

P.S.- There's a blog feature here on iRV2, I understand.

I built a website using WordPress with the "Nomad" plugin. It's a pretty cool tracking program.

Check out the site here. http://adventuresalongtheway.com/our.../2016-travels/

Check out what this blogger uses:

Wheelingit Camping Map - uMap

If you go to her site http://wheelingit.us/

on the right is a search spot, plug in 'route mapping' and she has a 3-part writeup on how she maps out a route using various sources, including Google Maps.

The link above is used on her site at the bottom of the page for their campground stays.

In my opinion this is the best RV blogger out there and especially good for big rigs and full-timers and boondockers. Check out all her topics for lots of good information on technology, internet, cell, solar and a great campground review list of places they've stayed.
