Has anybody stayed at the W P Franklin N Corp of Engineers Campground just to the East of Ft Myers, FL?

We are headed for the Keys in a week or so and are planning on spending a couple of days around Ft Myers on the way South from here in the Florida Panhandle. It looks like a nice park, as most COE facilities are. I am really wondering if anybody has a recommendation as to any particular sites that have better views, etc. Also wondering if there is much difference in the West or East areas and if there is any fishing available along the bank of the river? Is the water more brackish on the West side of the dam and lock?

We will greatly appreciate any insight anyone may have.

We are also going on down to Everglades City / Chokoloskee to the Outdoor Resorts facility for a night so we can take an airboat tour out of Everglades City. The Speedy Johnson Airboat Tours has been recommended and looks like it should be a good time. Anybody stayed there and have any info on either the Outdoor Resorts or Speedy Johnson's? Does the WiFi at OR cover the CG pretty well?

Sorry to be so wordy but will sure appreciate any and all comments, info and advice.
Thanks,

WP Franklin is very nice... I think we were in site 14 or 15 when we were there it had a nice view of the water. You can fish from the shore and they do have a fishing dock type area by the lock/dam. I didn't fish while I was there, but watched a guy and he was pulling really nice sized snook out of there , right at the dam -- so it is brackish
