The town of Mitchell , SD has a nice City park with a lake. We stayed there on our way home from Yellowstone. They had some pull throughs and backins... most places I believe had 50 full hookups. 2601 N Main 605-995-8457

In Chamberlain, SD there is American Creek Park. It's right off I-90 and was very nice for a night.

Then, what's the point of going?

I'd put mine on the fridge... Or pushpinned to a bulletin board... In the garage.

Is this a holiday or a business trip? Which way do you want to go and what do you want to see and do? There must be some interesting points in between your location and the destination.

Wall South Dakota

Gordon , we want to know the route out Wichita Ks to badlands . When we get in SD we want to go to Corn Palace , then take in sights in badlands then work our way toward rapid city and stay near there and go to Mt Rushmore and Crazy Horse, we aren't in any hurry for exception don't want to take too long and Sturgis rally hit us.

If it were me I'd take I-135 North to Salina. As you probably know, North of Salina it becomes Hwy 81. I'd take 81 clear to South Dakota where it runs into I-90 in SD. I-90 West has all of the attractions you have mentioned. When I took route I-135/81 from York, NE South several years ago is was all pretty much a four lane road and not too bad. From Columbus to Norfolk that is four lane also, not sure how it is out of Norfolk North but I would think that it should be a pretty good road since it goes to Yankton, SD. If you take any of the other South to North routes you would miss some of the attractions you want to see.

When you come back down you could do Hwy 385 South out of Rapid City, or Hwy 83 South out of Murdo , SD, or Hwy 183 South of Presho, SD. I've done all three of these. None of these routes are outstanding but they do get you back down into Nebraska toward Kansas. There is a lot to see both coming and going. Enjoy your trip.

LOL I have seen a few of those also. I have seen so many of those stickers when I drove OTR out of Souix Falls. Have a great trip, trying to finance a trip out there also.
Happy Travels, Tim
