There are various levels to the annual passes. Not all include the water parks, Disney Quest or even parking. If you go for the annual pass you'll want to be sure you get the one you want. We have the unrestricted (no blackout dates) non-resident passes that include parking but not the water parks or DQ.

Florida residents have more options to choose from, a couple of which are a lot less than the "regular" passes, but if you get the unrestricted passes you'll find that while the resident passes are a bit less, it's nothing that will help you pay the mortgage.

In Fort Wilderness as I write this. Great campground. Spacious, quiet, lots of activities. First Class. As stated above, Disney Transportation will take you anywhere! One thing I found out today (our last day, leaving tomorrow) is that if you use a Disney Visa Card for purchases (tickets, most meals, souvenirs, etc.) you get 10% off your purchase! I found out too late. Disney is a money making machine, meaning that it ain't cheap to visit here, so 10% savings is BIG BUCKS!

Disney is especially expensive if you never leave the "magic", going commando style (Ie eat, live, shop disney) The restaurants alone have gotten much more expensive. imho "The Disney Dining Plan" has made things worst, especially in Peak tourist season. The choices on the menu are now limited to years past and pricing has gone where you don't want it. The Dining Plan also makes reservations more important for prime dining time then in the past.This is a "benefit" for Disney not the guest. (Basically forcing hotel package people to take all meals for a "discount" that really isn't a discount). But Disney does have a very large marketing department.

Keep in mind people at the Deluxe resorts spend ($$$) on their accommodations. Or you could just purchase a house in Golden Oaks and live in LBV! Check out the pricing for those bragging rights. Yes you can have a concierge but everything is extra cost above those prices. Walt's Wise Old Men are probably rolling over with this new Disney.

When you take your grand kids to Fort Wilderness you win the competition about who are the best grand parents. I know many complain about the prices but I have gone to camp grounds that were more expensive and got less. Just try camping on a beach in Florida to see what I mean. You get what you pay for.

WOW! Does this bring back memories. Disney was our very first RV trip, and the maiden voyage for our "new to us" '89 HR Imperial. The term "Baptism by Fire" comes to mind. We stayed at the KOA just out from Disney and took the bus that ran through the campground to the park gates. What saved me and my wife is that we decided to break it up. Theme park one day, then a down day to do something else slower paced, and alternated that way through the 8 days we spent there.
We had a fabulous time to say the least. Disney, Sea World, Cypress Gardens, Universal, etc., etc., etc. We found a ticket sales office near the campground that was like a ticket masters outlet or travel agency. They had discounts on all the park admissions through combo packs etc. Saved us a lot of green back.
Stay safe, and drink lots of H2O!
We hit Charleston, SC on the way down, and on the return trip to and from NC.
