We have tried, on short notice, to get admission but as you say advance reservations are a must. We travel I-70 once a year, and the nearest RV park we know of is in Columbia Cottonwoods RV Park
There are some primitive campgrounds in the area, but I think they are for people biking on the KATY trail (an old RR right of way, now a long narrow state park). The casino in Booneville doesn't appear to have any RV parking.
If you are near Warm Springs Ranch, a nice place for lunch or dinner is Les Bourgeois Winery. Parking room for RV's and a nice view over the Missouri river Les Bourgeois Vineyards | Blufftop Bistro
I have considered asking if we could dry camp at this location, but it never fit our travel schedule. This isn't too far from Warm Springs, so you might see if they would allow you to dry camp.

I asked if we could just dry camp a night after the tour and was referred to gobooneville.com to find a spot. Any one with experience for a sort overnight in the area?
