DW and I have not been to DC since 7th grade field trip. We want to mix more shorter trips into our normal long trip activity so think a week in DC would be nice.

Looks like Cherry Hill Park in College Park, MD is the best choice for being near DC. Does anyone know if there is a dog walking service in the area? We would want to have someone reliable to let our dogs out while we sightsee.

Probably try to go in the early fall.

PetSmart has two PetsHotels in the DC area. they do daycare (Doggie DayCare or Doggie DayCamp). the DayCare are individual rooms (not wire kennels) with one 30-min individual playtime included + walks. DayCamp is like a group thing with other dogs. We use PetSmart often when we're on the road and don't want to leave Maggie alone for extended periods. The DayCare usually runs $22 for the day. reservations recommended.

Ranger, living in Glen Allen, how in the world have you avoided going to DC for so long?

That place sucks me in at least once every six months.

Well, was born and raised in Mechanicsville, moved away to go to college in '72 and did not come back to Richmond until 2015. Even so, we have talked about going to DC sometime but have been doing mostly trips out West.

I lived in Winchester from '72 - '75 and drove into DC a couple of times transporting patients while in a volunteer rescue squad. That was the last time I was there. Time to go back I guess

The last time we were there (several years ago) there was an advertised dog walker. I think it was someone who "lived" in the campground not a service provided by the campground. I am sure they have a website or maybe a call will help you. It is really the most convenient place to stay while visiting the D.C. area. Definitely not the cheapest but they do make it easy for you to site see.

Cherry Hill Park is the place to stay when visiting D.C. Bus stops in the campground and takes you to the train station or you can drive over if you have the toad with you. Great senior rates for the train. Campground is first rate -- always improving, spotless and friendly staff. We stay there to and from Fl. and usually once during the summer.

SMLRANGER -

Just got back from staying at Cherry Hill Park... While checking in, I did notice some business cards on the counter for pet walking service.. I apologize I didn't grab one.. but it appears they will come to your RV while you're gone to walk your dog and/or take care of your animals...

Hope this helps.. I bet if you called CHP, they'd probably give you the number !!

Good Luck !!

Thanks for that info. Actually I did send them an email and they responded with the name and contact number for someone they recommend.

We are reserved for the week after Labor Day. Looking forward to it.

We just got back from D.C. Stayed at cherrry hill park, wonderful place, highly recommend . The gal that was recommended by the park to walk dogs is the only negative. We called her twice and she picked up saying could she call us back which we said yes. Never returned our calls until we inquired through the staff there. When she did call back 4 days later, very unpleasant . Wouldn't have her walk my dog in a hundred years. Other than that Cherry Hill park is a great place to stay with staff being very helpful, except the dog walker .

Well, that's not encouraging. We have two dogs and with the time we will likely spend sightseeing in DC, it will be imperative to find someone reliable to let them out at least once while we are gone. If we can't arrange that before we head up there, we will not go.

Was she the only option offered by the folks at Cherry Hill?

Thanks.
