Washington DC / Cherry Hill Park / FotoWeek DC
We are in the planning stages on going to Washington DC for FotoWeek 2011.
This is a week long event for photography. We are looking to stay in the Cherry Hill Park and use public transportation from the campground to the events that are held in the city.
Questions are:
Have you ever been to FotoWeek?
How about Cherry Hill Park? What sites would you recommend?
If you took public transportation, how was it?
Any other information would be greatly appreciated.

We have enjoyed Cherry Hill Park a few times. It's a big park, very professional and helpful staff. Don't remember which sites we've had only that they are tight for our 36' MH.Excellent public transportation. The bus to the train stops at the park.

We were there in the fall. Nice campground, by all means take the public transportation, we didn't one day and the traffic coming back was horrendous! Great staff.

Cherry Hill is about the only place to stay if you plan to visit DC. It's a good park. They offer a "workshop" to help you access public transportation and to give tips about what to visit when, what to take with you, etc. It was very helpful and made my visits to DC much easier.
My space was a bit tight, but I didn't spend much time at home anyway
Enjoy your time there and let us know how the foto event was!

One of the nice things they do is to have an orientation meeting the afternoon you arrive. As I remember it was around 4 and they discussed how to use the public transportation, sights to see and so forth. Very nice staff and a great place to stay. We really enjoyed the night bus tour.

Several years ago when we stayed at Cherry Hill they even had a dog walking service - we were able to spend long hours away from the motorhome - touring the capitol & monuments and not have to worry about the dog.

Cherry Hill was the first place we went with the MH 6 years ago. They helped us back into the spot, and helped with the hookups (very nice). We have been back since, and always take the bus to the train and into the city. Very easy. The only grief we got the first trip was because our Map of the states had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING on it. Actually, it was an event putting our first State Ever on the Map. The first of many. The kids get such a kick out of looking at that map!

Ditto on all the Cherry Hill comments. We spent a week there this summer and had a great time. Attend their workshop on public transportation when you arrive. Unless they have the express bus running from the park directly to the subway Metro station, you might want to drive from the park to the station a few miles away to avoid all the stops the bus makes otherwise.
An incredible place to visit

Dates are not confirmed for 2011 yet. I did get a reply email that they anticipate it to be November 5th to the 12th.
