Seven Feathers RV Park in Canyonville Or. is a top rated park.
Right on I5 and you could hold up there if there’s snow in the Siskiyou pass heading into California.

The park is one of the nicest I've been in. But the Casino food is horrible at best.

That highlighted trip is the one I am taking Nov 3rd to Mesa, have done it a couple times. Worst I got was really bad fog from Twin falls well into Nevada in the morning. Happened in the same area both times I have been through.
May try and hit it later in the day this time.

Agree it’s not great, the RV Shuttle to the casino will also take you into town to the Mexican or Italian restraints. Both are very good!

IMO, and I have done this many times, the only way in mid Dec is I-5 south to near Bakersfield, then jog over (HWY 58 or others) to I-10 then down to I-8. You will likely have snow in Southern Oregon and Northern CA, but you can sit it out at some good RV parks along the way. Dick

PS. I live near Hood River also, and can give you some good info. PM or email me.

We are going to make that trip in the middle of November and yes RV Trip Wizard was trying to route us the same way. I over rode it and am taking I-5 to Wellton AZ. I just could not pull the trigger on the eastern route. Going I-5 we may get stuck at Grants Pass but if we do I would hope it would only be for a day or two. I may try the Bakersfield route...anything to avoid LA!

BTW: This will be the maiden long trip for this motorhome too!

We leave Oregon mid December for warmer destinations. I do not travel I5 but prefer 101. I am in no hurry, there are plenty of places to stay from nice RV resorts to free camping at Casinos.

The bigger reason is less chance of being stuck at the pass waiting for it to clear. I carry but will not put on chains, no reason to go slide on the ice when I can wait it out. 101 will clear faster after a big storm, plus the warmer coast air keeps from to many days of freezing weather.

We cut over at Santa Rosa and go to the 99 down to Bakersfield. Up and over on the 58. Trying to minimize interstate travel because I like to stop and see.

Best of luck on your trip.

Here's a brief recap of our relevant experience with the I-5 route to Arizona.

Washington State To Arizona In January

Holiday RV Park Phoenix, OR

Seven Feathers in Canyonville, OR, is appealing but we usually pass through that area in the middle of the day. We do buy fuel there and the rest stop is spacious with easy access. So it is a great place for us to break for lunch in the coach. We've never been in the casino/hotel/restaurant facility.
