This trip will be is the spring I think but I an thinking I might make my reservations soon
Can someone or everyone give e their input as to how close google map is to time it takes considering we are pulling a 5er and recommend things to see or places to stop?

Google map directions and time is based strictly on driving time. Doesn't take into account any stops for fuel, eating or sightseeing. So allow time for that.

Also think about average speed in your rig. I would add at least and hour driving time PLUS stops. A car at 73mph is a lot different than 63-65 mph in a motor home. We pull a 5th wheel and have slowed down to an avg speed of 63 mph, that saves diesel fuel and nerves. Blowouts do happen. We have had two with no problems except for the racing heart beat. However, slower still gets you there and without frazzled nerves.

Have you thought about where you are going to stay? We live in VB and I would suggest Holiday Travel Park on General Booth Blv. It's a nice place and close to everything at the beach. They also provide parking for your visit at a lot at the beach just for their guests. Let me know if there is any other questions you might have...like where to eat! There is a GREAT barbeque place right down the road on Gen. Booth called Jakes Smokehouse for starters. Also, I might suggest asking for one of the Super Sites at the park. They are a little more expensive, but they are BIG, paved and have full hookups with cable.

There is a Walmart just off I-64 in Barboursville with a big lot if you want/plan to overnite there. Also plenty of places to eat at that exit.
Also, assuming you will take I-64/I-77 south from Charleston, WV, that is some fairly steep and winding interstate which may extend your travel time somewhat. Once you get out of the mountains onto I-81, you will have smooth sailing.
