Weed, CA-to-Reno NV Route Help

Can anyone recommend a good route from Weed, CA to Reno, NV?

Time and speed are not an issue.

Also if anyone can recommend a good RV Park in or around Reno we would really appreciate it.

Thanks,

Don & Michelle

I5 south to Hi 89, east toward Reno
2 lane highway, can be crowded in summer but lots of pull outs and passing lanes...nice scenery. Avoid it at dusk, lots of deer!
Don't know anything about RV parks in Reno, we're just starting ou RV adventures
Have fun!

I agree with Hwy 89, (actually 89/44/395).

This is a very nice RV park: Page Title

RV Parks Between Weed, CA & Salt Lake City

Thanks for all the route suggestions.

Now I need some recommendations on RV Parks between Weed and Salt Lake City.

Reno/Sparks area are booked due to their Hot August Nights and an annual antique car show.

By the way, This is our first cross country, and back, trip in 26 years. Last one was From Anchorage, Alaska to Fort Monmouth, New Jersey

We are only doing 200 to 300 miles a day and RV Parks seem to be scarce.

Thanks in advance.

We are staying at the marina rv park in sparks right now.... It seems like a lovely park though we have been gone most of the time to a nephews wedding. We'll be here till Sunday morning in space 203. If you come by, stop and say hello.

If you are bypassing Reno due to availability, there's a nice small park in Fernley, Desert Rose. Out in the middle of nowhere off I 80 is Elko, the parks think they have the crown jewels, Double Dice is $41 and Iron Horse is $45. Double Dice's spaces are close together but if you are just staying 1 night it's ok. Do not stay at Cimmaron West, really bad. Valley View is $14 and just ok, fine for overnight. There are also parks in Winnemucca that get decent reviews.

Desert Rose is a Passport America park and that makes it pretty reasonable.

Thanks for all the input

We've decided on Hwy 89, 44 a little bit of 36 and 395.

We reserved a spot at Iron Horse RV Resort in Fernley and another at Iron Horse RV Resort in Elko. From there we're going to wing it when we get to Salt Lake.

Thanks again for the traveling tips.

If you don't mind boondocking for a night there's an interesting state park in Salt Lake, it's Antelope Island, it's west of I 15. There are buffalo roaming around loose. We stayed there several years ago and it was out on the great salt lake. Easy access
