We went here for the first time ever-and it was wonderful. Canoeing, hiking, swim in the 72 degree springs.
Only about 2/3 of the sites were used. I guess people didn't like those $2.99 gas prices; but we drove 4 1/2 hours for this 3 day weekend and what we spent on gas was totally worth it!
Can't wait to go back.....

Only 10 miles from our house and we also like the park. Also you might try Blue Springs. Sites aren't as nice but park has lots to offer

Blue springs is great in the winter when there are many, many manatees. a real treat.
