Good evening.

We were looking into a north bound trip for a change of pace. We saw that Wells Beach Resort might be a good place.Anyone go there? But after reading the cost-$63 a night for two and then add $12 a night per kid(we have 3), that's just not a price I can consider for camping(hotel yes). I hope I read that wrong for the costs. With the cost of gas going nuts-seems that the campgrounds are raising prices way out of the ball park so that maybe someone who wanted to stay more local for camping now won't at those inflated prices. Geesh,if they are all going this way we are better off just camping at home.

But please do tell about the campground-it does interest us. Thanks

Nell

Hi Nell..that does sound a bit pricey if you are going during the off season . If you don't need to stay right on Route 1, check out Red Apple CG in Arundel just over the town line from Kennebunkport. They have some big rig friendly sites (not a lot though). I think their rates might be a little bit better. We have stayed there several times in a 40 footer w/toad. No problem. Also, Hemlock Grove CG in Arundel. Both are close to lots of things to do. Hope you can work it out.

I stayed at Wells Beach Resort I would never do it again there sites are real close together. No trees between sites No Privacy at all .
I am going to Hemlock Grove Campground in Arundel Maine this weekend it is a very nice CG maybe 20 miles north of wells beach on route 1 no problem for big rigs.
Another nice CG is Walnut Grove in Alfred Maine I hope this helps .

Wev'e stayed there twice, it's rated one of the top CG in the country. I didn't feel there was not any privacy, the park is very clean, pet freindly, and I didn't even have to get out my own patio carpet. There are several great resturaunts with in walking distance. 1 to 1 1/2 miles. The lobsters are a bit more pricey down south than if you travel more north up into Maine. The ocean is just a short bike ride down the road. At low tide the beach is wide open sand, great for riding the bike on. There is even a board walk there! We don't have any kids so I don't know about the pricing for them. We would stay there in a minute.
