Whats your favorite place to camp?

I like the more rustic campgrounds. DEC campgrounds in New York are nice, so far Lewey Lake is my favorite.

I love Sugar Bottom, it's a COE park near Iowa City, IA.

I have 2 favorites. First one is a small State Park about 20 miles from home called Belfair State Park and it sits on the very end of the Hood Canal. Quiet with nice views of the Canal. Second in about 90 minutes away and sits on the opposite side of the Canal called Dosewollips State Park. Part of it is newer and other rustic. Sits on a river and lots of hiking trails and wide open spaces for the kids to ride their bikes. About a 10 minute walk to the beach.

I like Danforth Bay in Freedom, NH. It is on a lake, with canoe rentals as well as kayak rentals. it has plenty of week end activities for kids. It has a hiking trail to Mt Mary, a very nice overlook of the lake. The sites have plenty of room with a pull through area for those who like them. Wooded sites as well as open sites. Tenting area along a stream as well as on the lake. Propane filling station, swimming pool for those who want to swim. Make reservations because it is hard to get into sometimes. It is listed on this site in the campgrounds above for NH. It is gated as well. Nice base for visiting the White Mountains.

We really like Navajo Lake State Park in New Mexico. http://www.emnrd.state.nm.us/PRD/navajo.htm Close to the four corners. The Cottonwood Campgrounds has the best access to the San Juan River, some of the best trout Fishing in the country. http://www.fisheadsofthesanjuan.com/
The campground has big spaces and although not full hookups the environment is really hard to beat for a relaxing fishing trip where I can catch fish instead of jockeying for a spot to drop a line.

My brother-in law and I hired a guide on our last trip and it was a day to remember.

BTW This was the first Fly Fishing either one of us had ever done.

How do you boil it down to "one favorite"! I have to give a few: first, living in AZ...there is so much opportunity to Boondock. This is up by Flagstaff:

This is my favorite in the desert outside the Phoenix area, the backdrop is Four Peaks:

When traveling back to Michigan I always stop at Cedar Point for a couple days, Camper Village is great!:

Mill Creek Campground outside of Mackinac, Michigan is fabulous!

Thinking about it....my favorite?? Wherever I am!

For me; in Ohio, West Branch St. Pk. is my favorite.
Out of Ohio; Natchez Trace State Park in Tenn. is where I like to go followed closely by Cook Forest St. Pk. in PA.
