We usually like to hang close to home on the major holidays. We refer to them as amateur weekend.

I am at Thousand Trails Colorado River in Columbus, TX. My Good Sam group will be coming in for this weekend and then another group of friends will be here for the 4th of July. This is close to home and nice, but it sure is HOT. I don't plan to do much summer camping - I can't handle the heat.
Happy 4th of July everyone!

Yep, us too. Seems a lot of us prefer home on holiday weekends. Campers can act pretty stupid on a holiday. We swore off July 4th at CG's because one year we had a few bottle rockets land on our roof. I was not happy. No damage...luckily.

How is it one careless match can start a forest fire but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?

We'll be heading out on the 3rd to spend 4 nights at the Holly Shores CG in Cape May, NJ. Hoping for lots of sun and fun at the Cape May Point beach.
