I agree. You need more time than just a day trip. Must see the Kolb Studio and Yavapai Museum of Geology. On my next visit there will be a drive out toward the East Entrance to see Desert View Watchtower. It was designed by Achitect Mary Colter and built in 1932. I've only seen it from the bottom looking up. (Top of Cliff, Upper Left Corner)

You are correct. I didn't reference my trip notes and mis-remembered the name of the CG. Trailer Village is the one that is so convenient.

We stayed at Camper Village when visiting the North Rim. It was the closest full hook-up CG, but not convenient and not so nice.

We are going to YS in June and have been trying to decide what routes to take from Buffalo. We are not experienced in mountain driving and have a 44 ft with towed .At htis point we are scheduled to stay at Yellowstone Village Inn and Rv park. in Wapiti which is about 35 miles from east entrance. We plan to take day trips to YS and Cody (7nites there) We were planinng on seeing the Tetons on one of those days. By doing this we would not have to takre Rv thru park and also avoid some steep grades (I think) . your thoghts on this plan would be appreciated. Also can I get my rv in Trailer Village. Not knowing anything about WY roads makes it difficult to plan where to travel to stay out of "trouble". I did get the Mountain Directory wets which describes the roads with grade and curves.(which gave me more things to worry about).

Inn the 90's we had a small 22' LazyDaze (loved it) and we traveled from Southern Cal. to the GC for a week, we stayed for 5 days at Mather campground and loved it (small sites) then we went over and stayed 2 days at Trailer village to clean up the MH and get it ready to go home.... Love it, but for us, Mather was one of the nicest places we have been.... but limited to about 30'

I would say that your plan will work at Yellowstone and yes you can get a 44' coach into Trailer Village. I believe most all if not all sites at trailer village are pull thru.
