We are planning to make it to Tunica for a week in early June. I am aware of RV parks at the Grand Casino and Sam's Town. Can anyone suggest any other alternatives. I will be playing as much golf as I can get away with, Barb will be playing as many penny slots as she can feed. We will not be towing a car, so proximity to the golf courses will be important to us.

My question, at first, was what or where is a tunica? However, upon "googling" it, I found a lot of info about Tunica, MS....

Tom & Barb,
You listed our two preferred sites in Tunica. I would not go to Tunica without a 'toad' or other means of getting around.

I know the Grand has at least one golf course. I would contact them to see if they will pick you up for the golf course and return you back to the site. They do have suttle service from the RV park to the casino. If they won't take you to the golf course, you will have a problem as taxi service is very limited.

Tom,

The Hollywood Casino also has an RV park and a golf course right next to it. It is right across the road from Sam's Town and next door to the Resort casino. Good luck.

dreamer.

Thanks all for your quick responses. We will not have a toad rigged by that time. Is there any sort of car rental in the area?

Its been 3 or 4 years since we went to Tunica,we went to a rally at Hollywood Casino, nice, clean and cheap camping. And we felt very safe as they kept the campground/parking lot as bright as day all night long! It may have changed since then but there wasn't anything there but casinos, occasional golf course and cotton fields, unless you rode back into Memphis. I'd hate to be there without a toad!
Good luck on your trip and at the casino and golf course!

Enterprise has car rental slots at the Grand (in one of their hotels) and also at the Tunica airport. They will pick you up at your campsite as I have used them before.

The last time we were in Tunica was shortly after they opened the casinos there. I expect there have been significant changes since then. Thanks Beaver for the tip on enterprise.

I agree with ChiefJohn, transportation is almost a must. Even though there are 9 casinos in the area the rest is pretty much cotton fields. Grand is the best and most expensive. Hollywood and Sams town are across the street from each other. Sams has the better campground and the least expensive. Hollywood and Grand have their own golf courses.

Have a good time and good luck.

thanks ROMAD for the information. It sounds like we might try the Grand, I have been told elsewhere that it is very nice also. With an Enterprise desk there, it would be very convenient for us.

The Grand is a Harrah's property so they have a shuttle that runs to Horseshoe and Sheraton. Gold Strike is next door to these two. Also check out this web page for info on the whole Tunica area: http://www.casinocamper.com/Tunica.htm
