I second the motion on Hardeeville RV Park. I asked the owner if it wass ok to wash my 5th wheel and he said he does not like to see dirty rv's leaving his place. I needed some work done, broken front jack, and the owner was very accomdating putting me in a spot that would be easy for the rv repair guy to work on the coach. I would go back here in a heart beat.

Jekyll Island was a great visit in 2009 and it is about an hour or so south of Savannah.

We stayed at Skidaway Island sp last November. The only drawback is no sewer connections. When you enter the park they give you a piece of paper with your name on it and go hunting for a site. When you find one there is a clip on the post to put the paper on. While looking the 50 amp sites have a blue marker on the post making it easier than trying to figure it out from the map.

The sites are not paved but they are huge and all half circle pull throughs. It is very wooded so satellite TV may be a problem. There is cable but it appears to only be an antenna feed.

Harry S Truman Pkwy is not far and will take you right into town, about 15 miles. There is a very nice Kroeger grocery right down the road.

I am surprised no one has mentionrd Whispering Pines in Rincon GA. Its about 20 minutes drive from the riverfront area with a Walmart and grocery store nearby. We stayed there a few years ago and found it suitable for us.

We have been to Hardeevile RV Park, SC several times and it serves the purpose very well. They are friendly and will help you out if you have any sort of problem. Mostly pull through sites, level on grass & gravel.

I second Wayne M on Hardeeville RV. We spent three weeks there last Nov. and it is so convenient to Old Savannah and Hilton Head too, if that interests you. The price is right ... there's lots of room ... full hook-ups with cable and wifi.

[QUOTE=I found a few places were $50/night! The one on Tybee Island, the Koa, and Red something or other.[/QUOTE]

The Red Gate, maybe? Just got back form there. Full hook ups (50 amp). Old Town Trolley picked us up and returned us. Well worth it for the trip into Savannah and the basic tour and the use of the trolley all day. The camp ground is good (a horse farm), but can use some work on the shower/restroom area. Nice recreation house, grounds and folks. Have stayed at Savannah Oaks, too. OK. We stay there for one night passing through going north or south. Old Town Trolley comes there, too.
