No gasoline on gulf breeze or the island?
Oops! My mistake. I misread your reply regarding whem2fish's diesel fuel post, Thought you had a diesel RV. Yes, there is gas on The Island, but only at one station and it is more expensive than in Gulf Breeze or Pensacola due to added taxes. Several stations in Gulf Breeze although not all are RV friendly.
The Grand Marlin, in Pensacola Beach at the southeast end of the Bob Sikes toll bridge (not in Gulf Breeze), does have good food and a neighbor of mine is part owner, so I have nothing against it. However, it's more expensive than the other places I mentioned. The OP indicated he didn't want to go broke. While not going broke eating at GM, it's easy to run up a fair size tab if you order gumbo and/or appetizer(s) plus an entree. Throw in drinks and/or dessert and it can add up to a lot. Especially at dinner. We prefer to go at lunch when prices are a tad lower, portions are still more than adequate, and it's generally less crowded. Waits for a table for dinner can be really long this time of year.
I agree that Flounder's wouldn't be my first choice, but it stays in business for a reason. Large portions of decent food at decent prices, with an island ambiance. It has a wide selection of seafood, as well as other dishes, so there's something for everyone to eat. While it's true that restaurants on this island need a brisk tourist clientele to thrive, and so cater to them, it's locals who keep them in business during the off season. If the food isn't good - not necessarily the best, but at least average or above - they won't make it out here. Flounder's is one of the oldest on The Island.
