Where to stay at West Yellowstone entrance

Looking for some advice on a cg near the west entrance to Yellowstone. Looking at Grizzly Park, Mountainside KOA and the West Entrance KOA. Grizzly doesn't allow any fires. Thanks

Stayed at Grizzly last July. It was the best park on our trip. I highly recommend it.

Grizzly, beyond a doubt if you want to stay right outside the West Gate, but reservations are necessary depending on when you plan to be there. A little pricy, but a wonderful park. Make sure you stop at the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center there in West Yellowstone just a block or so off the main drag going into YNP. (At 201 S. Canyon St.) Tickets were good for two days, and well worth the time and money. Be prepared to spend alot of seat time driving into and around Yellowstone if you've not been there b/4. A very big place & it takes ++time to get around. Enjoy!!

How many days should a person plan to stay. Were going there then on to mt Rushmore then continuing east. Just curios since I have not been to Yellowstone since I was a child.

we have been to Yellowstone for the past three summers... this summer we will hosting at the buffalo state park North Fork...we have made many friends. So much to see and do in and around the area....all five entrances to yellowstone are unique! The Beartooth Pass must be seen....Red Lodge, Cooke City, Billings, Thermopolisis...Wind river Canyon.....

Again, kinda depends on time of year and what you want to prioritize. It's possible to take day trip(s) to the Tetons from the west gate, too. We have been through twice - once for one week & the second time for 2 weeks. Still did not see all we wanted, but we may make it back there one of these days. If you decide to go to the Tetons, Between YNP & the Tetons, I'd recommend taking Lookout Mountain Rd. (I believe the name is correct) in your toad. Kinda steep gravel road, but the overlook is flat amazing. There is a small parking area at the top/end of the road, and the view is fantastic of the valley and the Tetons a bit farther to the South/West. A full morning side trip all by itself.

When doing Mt. Rushmore, plan a daytrip (or more) through the Needles, Custer State Park, and have a home made piece of pie & ice cream in Custer at the Purple Pie Palace. Also a very interesting woodcarver museum in Custer, along with Jewel Cave that is definitely worth seeing as well. Lots to do in the area. In the fall, the buffalo roundup in Custer State Park is something worth seeing, too. This year (2015) marks the 50th anniversary of the roundup, I believe. And the wild burros in the park stop traffic, as do the buffalo. Quite the photo ops - as long as you remember they are really wild animals, and act to give them all plenty of room & respect.

Grizzly is a beautiful park, but is surrounded by the city of West Yellowstone. While in the campground you'll not be enjoying any of the area's scenery you went there to see.

We tried to get into Grizzly at the time of our last visit but luckily they didn't have space available. We ended up at Yellowstone Holliday, about 10 - 15 minutes north of town. Here you look across the lake at mountains, and I believe you can have a campfire.

We stayed at Grizzly for one night between Red Cliff CG & Fishing Bridge. It is nice and well kept. Gallatin Nat Forest is behind it and is a great place to stretch legs.
