We have spent the last few winters at Shuman's RV park in Canadys SC (1/2 way between St. George and Walterboro on Hwy 15 and about 200 yds from the Edisto River. Also not far from Summerville for dining and theatre and Ladson (giant flea market) It is clean, quiet and has excellent full hookups (great water and the electricity never falls below 121 V so A/C is not a problem) at a very reasonable price ...$16 IIRC. Pull thru and back ins will accomodate any size RV and the summer is their slow time. It is 45 minutes into Charleston and 75 minutes into Savannah. The only drawbacks are a lack of cable TV., (but good satellite coverage if you use that)the need to be self-contained(no washrooms/showers) and very little for smaller children to do. Mrs. Shuman, a kind and generous lady, generally shares her bountiful garden with campers. Good neighbours too.
The state park is across the road for hiking and fishing and there are canoe rentals nearby as well for the outdoor experience. Beidler forest and the Great Swamp Sanctuary are also some of the attractions.
We have found it to be a very convenient spot and sort of our second home. Any questions...please contact me and I'll be happy to answer them.
