Buckskin Mtn... in the winter months. Nice sites right on the Colorado River just below Lake Havasu. Fantastic for kayaking on the river, lake and Bill Williams Nat'l Wildlife Preserve. Lots of hiking trails right from the CG. Good 4 wheeling both on the AZ and CA sides of the river. Easy or not so easy trails up to Desert Bar for cold ones and live music on the weekends. A great stopping point before or after Quartzite.

Catalina for proximity to Tucson, hiking, and bike paths. Patagonia Lake for hiking, fishing and birding.

And when in the PHX area Maricopa Regional Parks are pretty darn nice too. McDowell Mt has great mountain biking and hiking and its just outside of Fountain Hills, east of Scottsdale. Lake Pleasant for the boating folks is just north of PHX off I-17.

Lots of great parks to camp in... close your eyes, spin the wheel and go wherever the pointer lands.

Lost Dutchman....we volunteered there. Excellent hiking; beautiful views from every site. Easy access to the Apache Trail drive (not with your RV). March flowers are outstanding but you'll need reservations at that time.

The Maricopa County parks are also very nice in the greater Phoenix area. Big, lush sites. Again, great hiking.

Dead Horse Ranch

If you like history,Dead Horse Ranch is the place to go.You're within eye sight of Tuzigoot and Gerome. Ft Verde and old cavlary fort is about 20 miles away.

Catalina, Fools Hollow and Dead Horse are our favorites. All are well run. We like the beauty of Catalina for hiking and it's proximity to things to do outside the park. Liked horseback riding at Dead Horse. Fools Hollow is great in summer when the southern AZ temps get high.
