Wineries north of San Francisco

My wife and I are planning a trip to California's west coast (north of San Francisco) then traveling north to Washington. I've never been to the wine region and would love information on touring and tasting.
Thanks Norm

You can start in Napa, head up the Silverado trail in the toad.

Plan on lots of time in Napa. Park the rig I one of the big lots (V. Sattui, Mondovi, Silver oak) and then after visiting that winery use the toad to explore.

He subscribed to the thread to get updates, and wanted to let you know he's also interested.

Don't skip Sonoma. And also as you go further north you will get to the Lake County and Mendocino wineries.

I prefer the very small, family run wineries over the big showy ones. There are some real gems to be found.
