Winter camping

Can I camp in areas where the temp is below freezing? I realize I may have to put a light or heat lamp in the sewer bay. I also wonder if the rv heater works off of gas or electric ?

Camping in below freezing temps is possible, but usually uncomfortable and inconvenient, (aka: a PITA).
RV furnaces use both 12VDC and propane, (electric space heaters require shore or genset power).

I see us having to spend some of the cold weather months in northern Alabama, it will be in the 30 to 40's with the 20's at night. Other than that we may be in areas where it drops below freezing at night.

Not a worry.
Camping in 30 to 40 temps when the overnight temp drops to below freezing has never been a problem for us....(sustained temps below freezing for days at a time can be).
In that situation I disconnect and drain my water hose, use the propane furnace for cabin heat and a light bulb or space heater in the water bay.

I have spent many nights in below zero temperatures, it isn't that big of a deal if you prepare properly. There is a wealth of information so do a little research and you will not have any issues.

Keep fresh water tank full as a back up and keep batteries fresh with a full tank of fuel in event of an ice storm which takes out the power.
