Winter in Mission Tx

We are planning to winter in Mission Tx at the Bentsen Palm Village. I would like to hear about any experiences at this resort as well as how the winter weather "typically" is. We hear it can be windy. Also, are there any border safety concerns or tips?

Prices have gone up a lot for this winter coming up. Still well worth it, in our opinion. Lots of wind. Moderate temps. Life in the state park is delightful. Be sure to get your Texas Stste Park pass. $70 for annual. Avoid the $5 a day entrance fee. We often heard gunshots across the border. (You are close to it.) The helicopters were often close. Very close. We were never concerned about safety. But we didn't go this year. Didn't go anywhere. The havelinas were chased out by the flooding a few years back, and haven't returned yet.

We highly recommend both the RV Park and the State Park.

I was going to say don't bother with reservations, but Bentsen Palms is about the only place I know of that is always full. It was cold and windy last year but that is not normal. Progresso is your safe border crossing. We usually stay at Victoria Palms but did get into Bentsen for 2 weeks once, it was very nice.

My parents have been wintering in Mission for the last 12 years at El Valle del Sol. Yes, last year they said it was chilly, cloudy and wet. The wind is always there....They said there is always things to do. All the RV parks put on different events from health fairs, bingo, dances, dinners and other entertainment.
