Within 120 miles of Houston

Can anyone give me some ideas on the best places or state parks to visit within 120 miles of Houston? Been to Livingston, Rayburn and are going to Brazos Bend next weekend. Looking to plan a few more.

Tyler SP is a nice park. Woodsy and ample space.

Galveston State Park, if you can get in.
We love Brazos Bend, but it can be very busy this time of year.
Huntsville State Park is nice, alot like Livingston SP.
Matagorda Beach Park (run by a river authority) is very nice with good jetties to walk on and open beaches.

In Galveston we like to stay at the Sandpiper, a full service comercial park on the small side. Has full hook-ups, level sites, walk to beach, swim in their pool, walk to resturants and ride your bikes on the sea wall.

We really like the Palacios area... nice little beach... fishing is great.... the restaurants in town are pretty good... the rv park we like is Serendipity Resort.... friendly folks... nice little town. Palacios Bay is part of the Matagorda Bay area... lots to see.

Good luck and safe travels.

I second Brazos Bend, Galveston. There is also Lake Texana and San Luis Pass campground its between Surfside and Galveston and sets right on the bay and a straight shot down 288...There are a lot of good ones on the Texas gulf coast if you enjoy fishing beach atmosphere... For the kids you have Jellystone, right outside of Houston in Waller.....
Enjoy !!!!!
