We're at the tail end of a 5,000 mile plus summer "tour" and I've concluded that every state has sections of highway either built by morons or used as practice bombing ranges by our military. Sudden dips that will bottom out your suspension, 12" deep craters in the middle of an otherwise smooth section, and other sections of "highway" that would qualify as a moderately difficult 4X4 trail. It's amazing to me that these rolling homes of ours hold together as well as they do.

Interstate 65 in Birmingham AL had the worst road of the entire 17000 mile trip to Alaska last summer.

After reading this, I am beginning to doubt the wisdom in choosing to add LA to our travel map. Grew up and lved in WV most of my life however, so have to wonder if roads could get much worse than that.
