There's really nothing between the 2 - been through there many times. It's only a bit over an hour from Charleston to Beckley, so if you can get to Beckley, I would highly recommend boondocking at Tamarack. Don't stay at the bottom where the truck stop is (way too noisy), but go up on top to where the Tamarack buliding is & on the left side of the building is a lot designated for RV parking. It's quiet there & you can sidle up next to the curb where you can put out at least 1 slide over the grass & maybe even get near a shade tree. If you arrive before Tamarack closes, just let security know you're out there.
