Question WW2 weekend in Reading, PA

Would love to come down to Reading, PA for the Mid Atlantic Air museum's WW2 weekend the first weekend in June. Curious if anyone has camped in the area for that event and what campground did they stay at. It would be nice to find a campground close to the airfield that offered a shuttle over to the airshow. Any suggestions????

There are some really nice campgrounds in the Lancaster County area, Denver, Ephrata, etc.

I don't believe there are any campgrounds close to the airfield. As Bruce said there are nice ones in the Denver (Hickory Run Campground), Ephrata (Starlight). But you will have to drive about 35 minutes to get to the airfield from there. In the other direction off of I 78 there is a nice campground called Appalachian campground right down the road from Cabelas but again you would still have to drive to the airfield. We love the WWII show I hope you can make it.

WW2 weekend in Reading, PA

I've never camped for the show as its only 90 minutes from home. But, the show itself is great. It's one of my favorite annual events. There are huge crowds if the weather is clear but they do a good job handling it with the shuttle buses to the parking areas.

The only thing you want to avoid is leaving in the late afternoon. The lines for the shuttles back to the parking lots are long then. We wait until 7 or 8 in the evening to leave.

It would be great to camp on the grounds but there just isn't room. You will see rvs there but it is limited to those who are participants or reanactors.

Thanks to all of you for your responses. Perhaps it would be better to just drive down in the car and drive home (Owego, NY) after or just get a room someplace. One way or the other we are going...
