Our ranch is about 15 miles north of Cody. I drove 230 miles round trip to Old Faithful. Minus 30 miles. Roughly 100 miles one way from Cody to Old Faithful. We went up to have lunch and see what they were doing to the road between Thumb and Old Faithful. Nice day trip. You'll drive a lot more miles if you try to see more of Yellowstone. A couple of years ago we took some guests up to Yellowstone for a quicky tour. We left Cody about 8AM Return about a little after midnight. 16 hours just to see highlights. Really not enough time to enjoy the park.

We are in Jackson Hole enjoying the Tetons and it is 25 this morning. The weather was gorgeous yesterday! We did the grayline tour for 8 hours and enjoyed it . There was one road closed due to bears. Boo! But safety comes first. Headed to Yellowstone later today, southern route and then next week, west gate of Yellowstone.

Yellowstone, Grand Teton, and Jackson Hole

MrFoto, glad you are having a great time! The bus tour sounds like a great way to see the highlights. Stay warm and happy travels!

They pretty much shut everything down Sept 30. Kind of iffy. If we get a storm could be earlier.

Problems with my thinking?

The Living Well Network has some awesome videos of the areas you will be visiting. This one is about how to beat the crowds, but you can use their search box to look up the other parks. Hope this is useful!
