Though we would prefer to go in a warmer month, what do you experienced ones think about going in October? We noticed the post about Grizzley RV Park in West Yellowstone. We have a 33' fifth wheel. Where else would anyone suggest we stay in the area. We want to also see Grand Teton NP. Your suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!!

As we are workamping in West Yellowstone at the present time, figured I'd jump in on this one.

Whether the parks are open depends greatly on the weather in October. Many times over the years some of the parks are closed on Oct 1 and earlier if the snow comes in. Of course, it the snow comes earlier, you can always rent a snowmobile or take a guided tour of the park on a yellow bus built on snow treads.

As Grizzly RV Park is right in town, they may remain open regardless of weather. However, be prepared for "cold" as it <span class="ev_code_RED">will</span> get that way starting about mid-Sept according to the locals.

We will be departing on Sept 15 for warmer climes.

Well, now we are thinking about heading west. We always go to the Wine and Chili Fiesta in Santa Fe in September, so we are thinking of going to Mesa Verde NP, Momument Valley, Zion NP, Las Vegas, Sedona, Grand Canyon then home to Texas. I really don't like hooking up and unhooking when it is bitterly cold.

Anyone with suggestions on this route please reply. Thanks! Carl

If you want ot go to Zions, you can stay at Bauers RVB Park in Glendale Utah. IT is ten minutes from teh entrance, and is a beautiful park.

You can go to http://www.nps.gov/yell/planyourvisit/index.htm go to operating hours and season it will tell you what closes and when depending on weather, if you can make it by the second week in Sept, its well worth it, the elk are in rut, the leaves are changing, the bears are plentiful, there are NO crowds.
We go every year at this time and haven't been disappointed, but last year we did get snowed on the last four days we were there, we stay at grizzly rv for the first week, its pretty empty and at Indian creek in the park until it closes (it has no services)can sit out every night and listen to the elk bugle.
