We will be traveling from Lewistown, Montana down to Jackson, WY next week and the most direct route would be right through Yellowstone Park on Hwy 89 and 191. It's been many years since we visited Yellowstone and I don't recall details of those roads thru the Park. We have a 36 foot motorhome and tow a car - are we likley to encounter any portions of road we wish we had avoided? We aren't wimpy about two lane roads (have been all over Alaska and other rugged places) but don't want to invite trouble either.

If we can go that way, we plan to stay a couple nights at Yellowstone Edge campround north of the park on 89. If we have to detour around the park to get to Jackson, we will probably stop at West Yellowstone for a couple days, probably at the Grizzly Rv Park. Any comments on either of those, or alternate sugestions?

We stayed at the Grizzly RV Park last year, a very nice place with lots of room and amenities. My only advice is to avoid US -14 East out of the park. Towards Cody. It was under construction last and to say the least was a very sobering experience. Probably better now, but lots of sections of up and down. Straight up and down.
There is an RV park in the middle of Yellowstone that may be available in the off season. Very well located to enjoy the loop trips around the valley. Check it out.

Thanks, you all.

I'm still hoping to hear from someone who has driven south from the North Entrance on Rt 89 and on through to the South Entrance via 191 and remembers the road conditions for big rig travel.
