For suggestion at Grand Teton Nat'l Park, look at this park web site. Also, all the national parks have a site like this with lots of good information for things to do, camping, roads, special alerts, etc. Click on all the topics - lots to do. One thing we really enjoy is taking a gentle float trip tour down the Snake River in the park. You just might see a moose in the water with you. We did!

In many ways we enjoy the Tetons more than Yellowstone although we've been to both many times. The Tetons are like a mini-Alps with wide open vistas. The hiking is superb - even the easy ones. If you carry bikes, there's a terrific bike trail, paved and off the road. The ranger programs are great. Take the chairlift up the ski hill for a great view.

We stayed at Colter Bay and West Yellowstone (Rustic Wagon) for 5 days each last year. If you are not a hiker (we are) then 2 days are enough to drive and get pictures for Tetons, but you need days for Yellowstone. Spent the first day on geysers. 2nd day Mammoth to Tower Falls, to NE entrance and back (lots of Buffalo on the way to NE entrance) - long day. 3rd day, relaxed walking around West Yellowstone. 4th day Canyon area. 5th day misc places from West Entrance to Norris. Could have spent more days if we had time. Rustic Wagon was very nice and more room than most other CG's and was not that much further than other CG's to West Entrance.

There are a few days open at this time. Check this link regularly as the spots open up after someone cancels.

Many times over the years I have walked up to the hotel desk in a Yellowstone Hotel and gotten a room for the night. Same with reserved campgrounds. It's surprising how many folks make plans in the winter or spring and don't show up in the summer. I've never failed finding a room, cabin, or campsite.
