Yellowstone Trip From Iowa

If you're planning to tour Yellowstone why not stay in Yellowstone? Paying $60-$75+ vs. $20- $25. Yes, dry camping but you're out touring all day so you're not going to be using much water. There are dump stations and shower facilities, if needed. I'd suggest picking 2-3 campgrounds in Yellowstone and move around this huge park. Dump and refill as you move.

If not in the park then Madison Arm Resort or Henry's Lake State Park have hookups for $30-$45 and at least you'd have pretty surroundings.

Check the construction on Fishing Bridge. The last I read the bridge was going to be closed for all or part of the 2019 season for repairs. If that is true you will be unable to access the main part of Yellowstone from the FB area. Coming from Iowa that would mean you would need to enter thru the Northeast Entrance or the North Entrance. Check the bridge construction to be sure. I would recommend the NE Entrance. I would also recommend Grizzly RV Park in West Yellowstone, MT

Fishing Bridge RV campsites will be closed for the full 2019 season. Fishing Bridge (US 14/20) will be closed for construction from Oct. 15 to Nov 5, which actually means the East Entrance to Cody is not accessible. All roads close Nov. 5 at 8 am for the winter season, so the road to Cody is closed for the season.

Currently, the East Entrance will open May 3, 2019, but pay attention to YNP website, Park Roads to get updated information as Spring approaches.
