Zephyr Cover Campground, Lake Tahoe California

This is the initial post of what will become a review of the campground and surrounding activities for Zephyr Cover Campground and Resort at Lake Tahoe. Sorry for the build up folks, but I had to share because we're just so darned excited about this one.

At $77 a night for a pull through with full hook ups it's not on the short list of economical camping places, but it's planned to be our premiere camping trip for the summer. At least it's cheaper than last years flight to Florida and the cruise to the Caicos & Bahama's. We'll be camping at Zephyr Cover Campground on the West (Nevada) side of Lake Tahoe in August. It's right after the wife's b-day, so I also booked a dinner cruise on the M.S. Dixie II. A 3.5 hour paddle boat cruise on the most incredible alpine lake in the world, with a 4 course dinner, live band, dancing and on board bar. It's literally a walk across the street from the campgrond at a few hundred yards. A few extra libations won't hurt a bit since there'll be no driving involved. One of the day's activities will be horseback riding out of Zephyr Cover stables up into the mountains overlooking Lake Tahoe.

Stay tuned for a full review.

It's a very nice camp ground and I do not disagree with any thing you have posted. I would like to give you another option: Camp Ground by The Lake in So. Lake Tahoe, perhaps 3 miles from Zepher. Cheaper, city run, across from the street from the lake, close to the community center, the lake paddle wheel and state line casinos. Another option, in any case enjoy the Lake.

Thanks! I just recently learned about that one. Funny how I learned of it, because the City of South Lake is one of my clients at work. In setting up a meeting with one of my contacts he wanted to meet at the campground by the lake. I immediately googled it after the phone conversation. Been driving past it for 12 years and never knew it existed. It's now on the list of one that we plan on visiting.
