Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta

So, are you going? Where are you staying? Private parks, balloon fiesta grounds, which lot?

We will be in the Standard RV parking, no hook-ups.

Look us up. FMCA 409608 on the ladder.

Stay as close as you can. Dry camp at the grounds, it is a great 2 weeks. We were there in 2007 and had a blast. Get up early and see the baloons fly and the at dusk they have the "glowdeo" where they fire up the burners and light them up.

We will be in the standard parking. Look for us at the Chase Tower. We can always use chase crew.

When you get parked, send a PM with your row and spot. You could spend all day looking for a FMCA Oval. lol

We aren't anywhere even close to the event but wish we were. Been there and it's great. Quite a site to see. All have fun.

We are paying $30/night for the Standard RV parking which is down the road a bit from the launch field, but we hear there is a shuttle service.

What things did you learn on past trips there?

We head to Albuquerque tomorrow (from Denver) and have never been to the Balloon Fiesta before

What things did you learn in past trips there? I'm in the standard
parking area, is there a request on check-in that they would honor
and what would that be?

Is there decent access to groceries (city bus?) or had I better make
sure I pack well?

Looks like lots of down time mid-day, what do you do during those hours?
(other than nap due to getting up too early for first event)

I've never camped "ralley style" before (dry camp in secluded areas yes,
never packed into a parking lot before) how does one keep their sanity
in such a setting?

What other things might you have learned in past trips that you wished
you knew before?

Thanks,
Allan

You can still camp at the Balloon Festival they stopped taking reservation because it is so close to the start. Accordng the the link you can drive in and they will accept you without reservations.

This is a really old thread and the parking options may have changed.

We went in 2015 and parked in the VIP East lot up on the hill north of the field next to the Presdiential lot. Can't remember what we paid then but the cost is $115 with a minimum of 2-3 night (?).

We went in 2018 and dry camped in the south lot with a group. After seeing the traffic in the mornings (when the balloons fly) I would not stay outside the grounds and try to drive in each day. If you stay outside you will want to bring something like electric bikes to get there. Its a Zoo. I live in a big city and often drive up to and thru LA. Comparing the two, there is NO traffic in LA. -Bill
