Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta 2019
I just had my confirmed RV site cancelled! "Due to high demand and extensive reservation holds, our system accidently oversold and you were allowed to confirm a site that was not actually available." Did they not expect high demand? Total incompetence.

Confirmed reservation cancelled
Just to clarify, the point I was trying to make was that I had a confirmed reservation (Premium) that was subsequently cancelled by the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta, not that I was "trying" to make a reservation. If I had wanted to boondock I would have requested it in the first place.

Confirmed Reservation
So sorry you had that experience with site reservation! We have received our RV site confirmation for 2019 Fiesta. This will be our first trip to the balloon fiesta. I am anxious now that we also might receive a notice for cancellation.
I agree that these mistakes should not happen, especially when reservations go so quickly, there is no time to fill a second choice.

Don't sweat it. There is always room in the dry camping area. JMO, but the dry camping area is better viewing anyway. If you simply MUST have power there is a power section within the dry area.
We have been three times. Only made reservations the first time & that was only because we were part of an owners group. There is a huge exodus on the Sunday & Monday of the first weekend. Try for arrival on those days. Tuesday even. In 2017 we arrived 12:30 Tuesday. No reservations. No wait line. We were put in the 3rd lane in from Alameda.
They fly everyday possible so missing first couple of days is really no big deal.

Reservations
I have heard and can't confirm - that there are RV clubs (Newmar, Entegra etc.) That reserve a block of reservations for a get together of sorts - if this is true who would one contact?

We volunteered there 5 years ago, and yes, there are different RV clubs that reserve huge areas. The event is very popular, but I would suggest the OP try to reserve different dates. Most RV's reserve for a couple of days and then move on, they won't stay for the entire 10 day show.

Yes & no. We managed to pick up a Tuesday & Wednesday in the dry camping area at the last minute, but they tossed us for the remainder of the week & weekend. We still had a great time, and commuted in from the Black Mesa Casino 22 miles north on I 25. The commute was a PIA because of traffic getting off the interstate & into the Fiesta parking, but only $20.00 per night for water & electric. The casino campground was pretty empty, and no need for reservations. Eat at the truck stop, not at the casino!

We went last year and reserved a site on the box area. Awesome site right on the edge of one of the landing areas and an easy walk to the main field. Really cool to have the gallons come right over the roof of the Coach to land although I had to run out one morning to take the flag down just before a balloon would have taken it out. We stayed 3 nights at the end of the Fiesta. Wanted to be sure to see the shaped balloons go up and also a night glow. Fantastic event.

Can I get some information on the Baloon Fest , here ?
I may be late in planning for this event . As posted " drive ups are not allowed for the 2019 event "
I have no objection to Dry Camping , as Im a self contained class A
Being from Fl and not familiar with the area . And my only toad is a 2 wheel one .
Commuting may be of a concern.
My wife and I would like to attend this event ! That being said , what will my options be ?

Is your 2 wheeler, pedal powered or motor driven? They have Free Valet Parking for bicycles
If you get there, come see me at the Red Chase Crew Cube, we can get you hooked up with a Pilot to help Crew.
The most fun you can have with closes on! We even have free passes for crew members.

Thank you for replying. I should have been more clear. Yes my two wheels is motor driven . What is of more important is where to put the coach I would be interested in a crue position. But I can’t speak for my other half as yet
