What a great day for football and tail gateing. Left VA Beach on Friday after Ernesto passed through and got to VT about 10:00 PM. Game day weather was beautiful..and so was the game..38 to 0 VT Spending the night at our sons driveway in the Richmond area and heading home tomorrow after a stop in Windsor to see some friends. All right you ND fans, we just watched the ND GT game and you pulled it out, but not by much. GT's should have lost by a lot more.

Thanks again. As a westerner I am not familiar with the meanings of these mascots.

Jim,

Surely you are not comparing this to a real stadium and football team like LSU and Tiger Stadium - also known by opponents as Death Valley.

Several years ago UCLA played LSU in Tiger Stadium. For 2 weeks prior to the game the UCLA coach lined his practice field with loud speakers playing crowd noises to get his team aclimated to the noise. They lost.

It's all in fun.

About 30,000 more than UVA...

Tiger Stadium
There's nothing like LSU's Tiger Stadium on a Saturday night. The stadium, popularly known as "Death Valley," is considered by opposing teams as one of the most difficult stadiums in which to play because of fan enthusiasm. With the 2000 expansion, the stadium seats 91,644 spectators and is the fourth largest on-campus college football stadium in the country. Perhaps one of the most famous moments in Death Valley history took place on "The Night the Tigers Moved the Earth," October 8, 1988. It was on that night, when Tommy Hodson threw to Eddie Fuller for the winning touchdown against Auburn, that the explosion of the crowd was so thunderous it caused an earth tremor that registered on a seismograph meter in LSU's Department of Geology & Geophysics across campus.

I remember a game in Blacksburg in Sept. 2002 with LSU. We arrived at the cage to a mass of RV's from LSU. It was a little intimidating...these were some serious fans ! LSU was also ranked #14 to VT's #16. HOWEVER, someone forgot to tell VT that and we beat LSU 26 to 8. I must say though, the LSU fans were very gracious when we returned to the cage and admitted we out played them. They also said they were impressed with the "noise" the VT fans made. Lane Stadium is considered one of the loudest stadiums because of the way it is built, all the noise stays inside the field. GO HOKIES !!
