Anyone have any information on the big event they have every September at the 1/3 mile dirt track at Boone, Iowa? I read in Speedway Illustrated that in 2004, they had 764 cars show up and had over 200 heat and qualifying races. This sounds like our type of show and we are thinking of taking it in in 2006. We were wondering how the RV park situation is in the area.

Great Show if you like good dirt track racing this is the place. sounds impossible the number of cars that race, but they do it very well. We were there a couple of years ago, and stayed in a campground near Ames, Iowa. We rarely stay at a campground close to any track we visit. I love racing but like our camping peaceful. We did the Indiana Speed weeks a couple of years ago and we stayed in the parking lot of each track. Have Fun J.Carew

Thanks for the information. It looks like if we go, we'll be flying out. We live in Yakima, WA and we both still work, and one week (which is all we can get off at one time) isn't enough to take the motorhome.

You might try the Adventureland Inn--in Altoona Iowa. Not a bad ride to Boone from there, and Adventureland Amusement Park is a good take.[Family oriented]

Plus, the sprint track in Knoxville, is only about 30-40 miles from Altoona.
