Civil War Sight Seeing!
Located in Greensboro, NC with travel trailer stored in Henderson, NC area. I would like to get some information concerning camper trailer travel around the state of Virginia. I'm interested in the Civil War sites through out the state.

Not sure what your are asking. If it is where to stay while visiting Civil War sites then download "Allstays Camp and RV". Pick an area you want to visit and the app will show you campgrounds near by.

There is a very interesting tour along rt460 in VA. You start in Petersburg and follow it east IRS called "Lees retreat". Just google it. As you drive west there are pull over along the way. You stop, tune your radio and it tells you what was happening all the way to Appomattox. There is a easy very inexpensive cg in Blackstone, VA. It is on Ft Pickett. I think you can Google that was well.
It belongs to Nottoway County and is open to every one not just military. Its bare bones, full hookup, but is only about $11 a night. Again just google but call ahead to make sure there's a spot
Couple of great places to eat in Blackstone.

If you do the Manassas National Battlefield Park, VA there are 3 campgrounds within 10 miles of it: Bull Run Regional Park, Greenville Farms Family Campground and Hillwood Camping Park. Of the 3 I like Bull Run Regional Park the best.

We did this a few years ago on a motorcycle. Enjoyed Appomattox, Petersburg, Cold Harbor and Manassas. If you can make it up into Maryland see Harpers Ferry. For me personally, Antietam was the most moving.

Pocahontas State Park is located between Petersburg and Richmond, both with a lot of Civil War history, Holiday Lake State Park close to Appomattox and Lee's surrender. Both are nice campgrounds.

Newport News City Park still has visible trenches from the Civil War. I would suggest traveling along US 58 to see some of the Virginia battlefields starting at Petersburg. The Army of Northern Virginia retreated along this area to the west before surrendering to Grant at Appomattox Courthouse. There is a nice Civil War Museum in Petersburg and you can visit the Confederate White House in Richmond.

Not in Virginia but if you are ever in northeast Florida, visit the Olustee Battlefield on Hiway 90, east of Lake city. It has a small museum and is pretty nice.
