We are heading to bike week and looking for a good campground near the speedway. I would be interested in any recommendations of campgrounds to stay at or avoid. I will have a 30ft MH and an 18ft enclosed trailer.

Thanks in advance, for any insight to that area.

I'm thinking it might be a bit late to find one close to the track.

If you want to be near the track, try racetrack RV @ (386) 257-9290 -- they are a few yards away from turn 4. If they are booked, Bulow Plantation usually has spots, but are 10 miles or so away. If you don't need hookup, go to Daytona Flea Market.... we'll be there. Don't need reservations, but they do accept them . Basically camping in a cow pasture, but still a good location

Thanks for the insight Hondo and Joe. I found a few options, but the full hook up sitss are a bit rich, want 5 day minimums and get into family member pricing and extra car charges. The flea market sounds like it will work just fine for us. We usually camp in cow pastures at enduros and hare scrambles all over the state. So that is good information. Thanks.

One of my buddies was told by this gentleman's secretary not to expect a return call until after the Speed Weeks as they're really busy with running the campground there right now....

Two years ago when we stayed here there were some 75 vacancies/cancellations as apparently the weather and fuel cost deterred a lot of the northerners from coming down... In today's economic climate I suspect much of the same would be true.
While a bit pricey, it's indeed walking distance to everything at the track....

You're certainly paying for that convenience, but as you note that may not be everyone's cup 'o tea.

In 2005 we stayed at International which is about 2 miles west of the speedway on the same highway.
They were adding some additional full hookup spots
then and usually have lots of dry camping spots available. If you call ask for Sean.
